trThe 48.1 mile Round-The-Island Walk is celebrating its 25th year and takes place on Saturday 20 June, starting, as usual, from the Elizabeth Terminal at 3 am.
It is now established as the premier Island walk and continuing the great tradition of what has become one of the Island's largest one-day fund raising events. It has high hopes of smashing the £2 million mark for the total amount of money raised.
The tough and hard walk is at stark contrast with the beauty of the route that passes along Jersey's beautiful coastline, sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs and stunning countryside.
A new relay section has been introduced for Islanders who do not feel they can tackle the full distance, and all team members will be equipped with a GPS device to allow fellow members and family and friends to track their progress.
It will remain a walk, however, not a race and the only competitive element will involve fundraising, a trophy being the prize for the team which raises the most money.
Alex Picot Trust are entering two teams in the Relay event, Alex Picot’s Scrambled Legs and Alex Picot’s Excel‑Arators, consisting of four members of staff in a team who will be walking between 10 and 13 miles each.
We wish them all the best of luck!
